Starting from March 1, 2025, there will be a revision to the bathing tax (known as “入湯税” in Japanese) in Higashiizu Town. The bathing tax is a local tax imposed on bathers at hot spring facilities within the municipality. The revenue collected from this tax is used for maintaining hot spring sources, environmental hygiene facilities, firefighting facilities, and promoting tourism. Here are the specific changes in the tax rates Before Revision (Until February 28, 2025): ¥150 per person per day (for one night) After Revision (From March 1, 2025): ¥300 per person per day (for one night) While the official website currently mentions a bathing tax of ¥150, starting from March 1, 2025, the rate will be ¥300 per person. Guests who have already used the prepayment option will be billed during check-out. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
